Mission Youth Center/Summer Camp Director

The New Life Union Mission in Dyersburg, Tennessee has a full-time salary position opening for a Director for the Mission Youth Center Clubs and Summer Camp. The position requires a minimum of 40 hours per week. Normal workdays are 8 hours Monday – Friday 9 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Work hours will fluctuate depending on when youth clubs and summer camp are in session. Weekends may be required for Mission events on rare occasions. The Director will work with the Assistant Director, President & CEO, Curriculum Writer, part-time staff and volunteers. This is a hands-on position where you will actively participate in the youth club and camp programs on a daily basis. This is not an administration only desk job.
The Mission is a non-denominational evangelical ministry serving two counties through a youth center in Dyersburg and a camp property located outside Halls, Tennessee. The Mission also uses local church facilities in both towns. The Mission’s goal is to help break the cycle of poverty by working with youth and their families through after-school clubs, special activities and summer camp. The Mission is an established organization that has been in Dyersburg since 1961.
Givens
Maintain an active spiritual life of Bible Study, Prayer and participation in a local church.
College, seminary and/or equivalent experience preferred.
Be a team player with a ministry/servant leader attitude.
Follow Mission doctrinal statement, policies and guidelines.
Make sure that safety is practiced at all times. Have a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
Be able to build relationships and recruit volunteers.
The person employed for this position will be expected to live in or near Dyersburg or Halls.
Youth Center & Clubs
Plan and direct after-school youth ministry for underserved students in grades 1-12 at Dyersburg.
Plan, schedule and direct summer activities for club children during the weeks after summer camp before school resumes.
Implement the curriculum in coordination with the Curriculum Writer.
Halls Clubs
Supervise/operate the youth clubs in Halls utilizing local church facilities, staff and transportation partnerships.
Recruit volunteers.
New Life Youth Camp
Plan and coordinate activities at New Life Youth Camp, a 5-6 week summer day camp on the Mission’s camp property. Camp set-up begins mid-May with takedown the first week of July. There will be a 2 week activities camp at the Youth Center in Dyersburg prior to school starting in August.
Vehicle Maintenance
Keep a schedule of maintenance of all vans and trucks making sure all are maintained properly.
Other
Help clean and maintain Mission Youth Center and camp lodge building.
Salary and Benefits
Salary is based on experience and qualifications.
Salary includes an allowance to assist in purchasing medical insurance and partial cell phone reimbursement.

The Mission's goal is to assist economiclly vulnerable and underserved youth to complete their education and become employable and self-sustaining. Our staff and volunteers also work with their families to help accomplish this. We desire that they all develop healthy relationships with God and others. The Mission operates after-school clubs each afternoon during the school year, and a five week summer youth camp at our New Life Youth Camp property. The Mission works with youth in age groups of primary, intermediate, middle and high school.
