Overview of McDonough Road Baptist Church (MRBC)
Founded in 1919, McDonough Road Baptist Church (MRBC) has been a cornerstone of faith and community engagement for over a century. Starting in College Park, Georgia, and later moving to its current location in Fayetteville, MRBC continues to be a vibrant congregation characterized by spirit-filled worship and a legacy of service. Our church family spans generations, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that reflects our mission to grow in faith and fellowship. While honoring our traditions, we stand ready to embrace new opportunities for ministry and community impact as we grow spiritually and numerically.
MRBC’s membership reflects a rich history, with 59% of our congregation aged 60 and above and a growing diversity, including 22% Black/African American members. The surrounding area presents opportunities to engage younger families and children. We aim to expand discipleship, stewardship, and outreach while continuing to reflect God’s love through culturally relevant ministry.
Overview of the Community
MRBC is in a dynamic and diverse region straddling Fayette and Clayton counties in Georgia. This vibrant community is predominantly African American and hosts a blend of blue-collar and white-collar professionals, with household incomes ranging from $50,000 to $100,000. The area is growing steadily, with an emphasis on education and family life.
While the community thrives with cultural richness and diversity, residents also face challenges such as financial planning, health and wellness, and social justice concerns. These factors present a meaningful opportunity for MRBC to minister through compassion and active engagement. Families are central to this area, creating a ripe environment for youth and family-focused ministries.

This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary leader to join MRBC in advancing God’s kingdom through faith, love, and service. If you feel called to this role, we encourage you to apply and join us in shaping a bright future for MRBC and the community we serve.
Founded in 1919, McDonough Road Baptist Church (MRBC) began as a small community gathering in College Park, Georgia, where SE Main and Francis streets meet. Though the church’s early days were rooted in that area, airport expansion led us to move in 1969 to Norman Drive in College Park. Our new home allowed us to continue serving and growing together, and in 1994, we transitioned to Fayetteville on McDonough Road. This new chapter has enabled MRBC to envision embracing a more diverse community, carrying forward our legacy of warmth, openness, and a deep commitment to worship and service.
MRBC is an autonomous, Baptist congregation affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, Georgia Baptist Mission Board, and the Fairburn Association Baptist.
Our church family at MRBC cherishes vibrant, spirit-filled worship that resonates with joy, biblical grounding, and a sense of anticipation for God’s movement among us. The congregation includes many seasoned members, with over 59% aged 60 and above, revealing a beautiful history of faithfulness and loyalty. However, we also recognize the opportunity to welcome younger generations into our fold. With a demographic composition of 73% White/Caucasian, 22% Black/African American, and 5% Other ethnicities, we reflect both our past and the diversity of our surrounding community, which is predominantly African American. As our local area sees a rise in younger families and children, MRBC stands at a unique crossroads to grow in cultural relevance and open-hearted inclusion, broadening our outreach and ministry to all who seek a church home.
MRBC is a place of belonging, offering ministries that uplift, support, and connect people across ages and stages. We are a welcoming, spiritually vibrant congregation where members find fulfillment in worship and fellowship. However, as we look to our future, we recognize areas where growth and revitalization can enrich our ministry. Strengthening stewardship, expanding discipleship, and adopting a more outward focus are key to reaching younger families and building deeper relationships with our community. Feedback from our congregation also points to a desire for continued improvement in evangelism and fostering clear, structured pathways for discipleship and spiritual growth.
As MRBC envisions its future, we seek a Senior Pastor who is not only a visionary leader but a shepherd for our congregation. This leader will bring wisdom, compassion, and a gift for community connection. Skilled in outreach, community engagement, and culturally relevant evangelism, our future Pastor will help us bridge generations, cultures, and foster unity. We hope for a communicator who inspires, a leader who empowers others, and a guide who can create pathways for meaningful discipleship, supporting each member’s personal journey of faith.
