Montgomery County was established in 1822. It is a county in the U.S. state of Indiana. As of the 2020 US census, it had a population of 37,936. Its county seat is Crawfordsville. The county is divided into eleven townships which provide local services.   montgomerycounty.in.gov

Crawfordsville is a city in rural Montgomery County. It is west central Indiana 49 miles west by northwest of Indiana. As of 2020, the city had a population of 16,306, and we continue to grow. Montgomery County job opportunities will expand by 300-400 jobs by the end of 2025. 

The city was founded in 1823 on the bank of Sugar Creek, a southern tributary of the Wabash River and named for U.S. Treasury Secretary William H. Crawford. The city is home to Wabash College, a private liberal arts men’s college, and the General Lew Wallace Study & Museum, a National Historic Landmark. 

Crawfordsville is a charming town that has all the perks of a small town. It has all you need, a local college, charming downtown, walking trail, walkable neighborhoods, accessible sports teams, and a small community where you will run into people you know everywhere.

Who We Are Looking For  

First Baptist Church of Crawfordsville is prayerfully seeking a man called by God to be full time Senior Pastor, demonstrating spiritual leadership abilities and commitment to living out biblical principles in daily life. The applicant will need to meet the qualification of elder as referenced in Titus 1:5-9,               1 Timothy 3:1-7, and 1 Peter 5. He will play a critical role in growth, maturity, spirituality, and effectiveness of the church.   

Job Description 

Provide for the normal duties of a Senior Pastor such as:  

Worship services messages.                                                                                                                                         Coordinate the ordinances of baptism and communion.                                                                                   Conducting weddings and funerals as needed.                                                                                                  Oversee the Youth/Children Ministry Teams.                                                                                                                                                                               Provide counseling as needed or be willing to refer when necessary.  

Work with the Leadership Team to fill pulpit vacancies when the Senior Pastor is away.  

Work with the Leadership Team for special meetings. 

 Visit members in emergency situations when possible. Coordinate with other visitation groups for visiting shut-ins, members in nursing homes, and hospital visits as needed.  

Conduct elective studies during the times of mid-week meals.  

Be available to meet with the Leadership Team at least twice a month.  

When members leave our fellowship for another local fellowship, make a concerted effort to determine the reason for their departure. Work with the Deacon/Leadership Team in this.  

Conduct weekly staff meetings.  

Maintain, as many as possible, regular office hours.  

Make a pastor’s report at the regular business meetings which includes activities such as: weddings and funerals performed; number and type of visits made; meetings and conferences attended, etc.  

Work with the Leadership Team to provide discipleship classes as needed.  

Work with the staff so that all will not be away at the same time for any extended period such as vacation, camp, etc. 

Preferences: 

Previous pastoral experience and a seminary degree is preferred but not required. 

Styles of preaching can vary but teaching the word, explaining biblical truths and applying it to life is preferred. 

 COMPENSATION PACKAGE FOR SENIOR PASTOR  

Salary: Starting obligation to First Baptist Church of $65,000 for salary and benefits. Additional compensation based upon pastoral experience, experience with staff, certification in counseling, and education. Additional compensation could be considered.  

Housing Allowance: The pastor must declare an amount at the first of the year. The designated amount must be agreed upon by the church.  

Retirement: Church will match contribution up to $1,000.  

Health Insurance: Church will pay a flat amount and a possible flex amount. 

 Life Insurance: Possible church participation.  

Vacation: See Employment Policies.  

Sick Leave: See Employment Policies.  

Professional Expenses: Church will reimburse professional and educational expenses. Church encourages continuing education. Therefore, the annual amount will be agreed upon with the church.
