The Big Picture

CityLights Church of University Place, WA is seeking a gifted Children’s Director who is passionate about growing God’s Kingdom through children’s ministry by helping kids and their families develop meaningful personal relationships with God. CityLights has resources and a beautiful space where our children can safely grow and thrive. Our goal is to find a gifted leader who can build and expand this vital and exciting area of ministry.

The Candidate

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative leader who will love our kids, inspire confidence, and develop and train coworkers. The Children’s Director needs to be self-motivated, have strong personal disciplines, and be highly organized. We are looking for a staff member who is dependable, fun, friendly, and possesses highly developed communication skills (written, verbal, and interpersonal) that enable them both to easily lead others and share the love of Jesus with children and their families.

The candidate (and family) will wholeheartedly agree with CityLights’ Statement of Faith and join CityLights Church in an active membership commitment.

Position Summary

• Provide leadership, direction, support, and oversight of the Children’s Ministry - birth to 6th grade.
• Work closely with the Lead Pastor and the Lead Team to integrate and promote Children’s Ministry and the mission, values, and goals of CityLights Church.
• Foster a culture where all children and families are welcome, encounter the gospel of Jesus Christ, and grow in faith.
• Help children develop a heart for serving others through group and individual activities.
• Equip parents to fulfill their calling as the primary spiritual leaders of their children.
• While teaching and leading in children’s ministry, consistently recruit, train, and encourage volunteers.
• Communicate regularly with the parents and encourage congregational involvement in Children’s Ministry.
• Set goals and participate in routine evaluation of the Children’s Ministry programs.
• Energetically communicate with leadership, teams, and volunteers.
• Demonstrate a desire and gifting in creative design, crafts, and décor.
• Be fluent in computer-based resources, (i.e. Planning Center, Facebook, YouTube, Spotify); and at least one graphic-arts software program (i.e. Publisher, Corel, Adobe, etc.).
