Turning Point for God is the broadcast ministry of Dr. David Jeremiah and exists to deliver the unchanging Word of God to an ever-changing world. Using Dr. Jeremiah’s teaching, we capture, curate, and communicate Bible Strong content through the power of media to share the Gospel with theological and creative excellence. Dr. Jeremiah is committed to teaching the entirety of God’s Word to the world, and his teaching is delivered in multiple languages to approximately 3 billion people across the globe through Turning Point’s various media channels.

To accomplish this mission, more than two hundred staff across various disciplines are committed to sharing the Gospel and Bible Strong teaching through Turning Point. Position Summary:

Reporting to the President of Turning Point for God (TPFG), the Human Resources Director (HRD) is responsible for leading the HR team while developing a dependable system and policies for hiring, training, and managing the employees required for the ministry to flourish and grow. The HRD will be adaptable and competent at managing the ever-changing needs and expectations of the ministry through an understanding of and passion for the TPFG mission and vision.

The HRD will collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to impact and effectuate organizational strategy. The HRD will quickly understand the ministry’s operations to effectively exercise sound judgment, especially in situations where no established procedures or precedents exist. The HRD will possess the intellectual depth, maturity, and skills to work effectively with the Founder, President, ELT, Board members, and staff of all levels.

Essential Functions:

  • Hiring, developing, motivating, and leading the human resources team to deliver against short and long-term objectives in a growing and thriving ministry.
  • Serving as a trusted advisor and partner to the ELT, primarily through designing and implementing management plans, strategies, and values that support the mission, vision, and desired culture.Establishing the vision, strategy, and short and long-term plans for recruiting, developing, and retaining top talent.
  • Crafting and administering human resources policies and services to improve organizational performance in alignment with the TPFG’s goals and objectives.
  • Ensuring all employees understand what is expected of them and supporting the desired ministry culture by overseeing and administering human resources policies and procedures, Employee Handbook, job descriptions, job postings, and performance management systems.
  • Developing the hiring, onboarding, professional development, and offboarding practices.
  • Implementing and overseeing TPFG’s group employee benefits programs.
  • Partnering with the Insurance Benefits Broker, President, and CFO, analyzing benefits utilization reports, and making timely recommendations to the President about group health insurance offerings, programs, and annual renewals.
  • Developing, monitoring, and implementing TPFG’s compensation and classification systems.
  • Recommending and investing in strategies that lead to increased workforce engagement and satisfaction.
  • Coaching, advising, encouraging, and assisting supervisors and employees to work together to resolve workplace conflicts and performance issues.
  • Reducing legal risks for TPFG by ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to hiring and other employment matters.
  • Maintaining a clear grasp of TPFG’s business cost challenges and how those might and will change in order to devise suitable measures.
  • Championing and adopting reliable and complimentary HR technology in partnership with the President and Head of IT.
  • Researching and making recommendations on special projects from the President.
  • Performing other related responsibilities as required by the President.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Human Resources or related field, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • SPHR Certification or SHRM SCP Certification required.
  • 15+ years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources operations, including supervisory experience, preferably within a nonprofit corporation.
  • Exhibit high confidentiality and privacy, especially regarding employee matters and protected information.
  • Outstanding organizational skills to operationalize a strategic human resources vision by identifying goals and objectives and specific actions to achieve them, setting priorities, delegating actions to team members, and influencing upward and laterally to ensure that all needed stakeholders execute critical actions in the plan; ability to evaluate results and adapt the plan, as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic and operational management, leadership, and coaching, including creating and managing a budget. 
  • Experience leading organizational and operational change; ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities simultaneously and delegate appropriately to meet all goals.
  • Ability to build cooperative relationships with peers, share knowledge, learn from others, and contribute to team and organizational goals and individual achievements.
  • Possess an entrepreneurial spirit, be inquisitive, and possess the ability to think creatively and strategically to solve problems and address challenges as they arise.
    Excellent written and oral communication and networking skills with the ability to engage, inspire, and educate in one-on-one meetings, group settings, and in written form.
  • Keep abreast of current and applicable regulations and federal and state laws related to employees and employment matters of the nonprofit sector.
  • Possess an understanding of how this position and the HR Team contribute to the ministry’s success, vision, and mission. 
  • Possess a servant’s heart; humble, teachable, willing listener.
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends for special events and activities.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, CRM, and HRIS systems.
