Valley Community Baptist Church, located in Avon, Connecticut is looking for qualified candidates for the position of Campus Pastor for its multisite campus in Bristol, CT.

 

CHURCH DESCRIPTION

Valley Community Baptist Church, (“VCBC”), a member of Converge Worldwide (Baptist General Conference), is a vibrant, evangelical congregation, averaging around 1,600 in worship attendance per week and drawing from multiple communities in central Connecticut.  In order to reach more people in the central Connecticut area, VCBC is looking to expand its ministry through a multi-site ministry strategy. VCBC is known for its: 1) biblical, relevant, multi-style worship services and strong preaching ministry, 2) strong ministry to Children, Students and Adults, and 3) constant pursuit of new and innovative ways to do ministry. VCBC relies heavily upon an integrated approach to ministry. Its key ministry staff make up a closely-knit, high functioning team whose members are both highly skilled and well-compensated, with salary and benefit packages comparable to those found in larger churches across the country.

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Reporting directly to the Executive Pastor, the Campus Pastor will oversee all aspects of ministry at the multi-site location and will have the following major responsibilities:

  • Communicate and implement VCBC’s vision and “DNA” within the multi-site context,
  • Establish, develop and grow a campus leadership team to lead and support the campus ministry,
  • Ensure that campus leadership team members connect with appropriate VCBC main campus supporting ministries,
  • Preach up to 50% of the time on an annual basis,
  • Supervise paid and non-paid staff, and
  • Lead one defined major ministry area (Worship, Small Groups, etc.)

 

Salary is commensurate with background and experience.  Position includes full benefit package.

  4. A passion for leading strategically and an understanding of how to design and implement strategies to engage larger numbers of people.
  5. Proven leadership gifts and skills; a balance of pastoral and administrative gifts.
  6. Proven strength in team leadership, management and implementation skills.
  7. Proven ability to teach and preach.
  8. A collaborative style of leadership; a team player.
  9. Entrepreneurial, a self-starter, enthusiastic, hardworking and proven ability to motivate and build relationships with others.
  10. Flexible and decisive with the ability to organize prioritize and meet deadlines.
  11. Ability to create an environment where ministry servants on staff and lay working teams are loved, encouraged, and supported in their growth as disciples.
  12. Strong desire to honor God and inspire His people through excellence.
  13. Will have five plus years vocational minsitry experience and/or key volunteer ministry leadership experience.

 

EDUCATION

Master of Divinity or equivalent degree required from accredited institution. Is ordained or ordainable.
