Calvary Lighthouse will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2020. We are in Lakewood, NJ. Over the last 97 years, we have grown and declined with different pastors. Currently we average 350 in attendance, with about 50 kids and 10-15 teens. The church has been in a protracted decline for the last 14 years. The executive board has made many good financial decisions over the years. The facility in in very good shape and the church is financially healthy. We have the facility to sustain a much larger congregation. In addition to the church, there is also a Christian school, Calvary Academy. The academy will celebrate 40 years in 2018. Enrollment has increased substantially in the last two years. Unlike many church schools, the academy is not a financial drain on the church. There is a good working relationship between the school staff and the church staff. The school is not autonomous—the lead pastor has oversight of both entities. There are no formal responsibilities for this position with the school.
