We have a dedicated prayer team that mee Membership: 271 Active & 98 Baptized Members .. Woodhaven’s membership is made up of a wide range of age groups; a large number of these high school and post high, from several area communities and at least six school systems. Worship: Currently, one Sunday morning service is held at 9:30, with an average attendance of 200. Our worship strives to be culturally relevant and meaningful to a full spectrum of ages. We primarily use praise music but incorporate traditional hymns as well. We include a children’s message in our worship. Programming: Woodhaven’s programming includes Children’s Church during service for ages 4 years through first grade, and Sunday School after the service for all grade levels and adults. Woodhaven’s Youth programming includes both junior and senior high youth group. Middle School meets twice a month for regular meetings (including a lesson/discussion) plus one or two activities during the month, High school meets every Sunday night, two times a month for lesson and discussion, one night a month to hang out and one night a month for service projects. We also have had a long-standing, well attended Women’s Study on Wednesday mornings. Woodhaven offers Wednesday night activities for children and families, including Kingdom Kids (2 years through first grade), GEMS and Cadets, and an adult study. Wednesday evenings begin with dinner together encouraging families to fellowship. Additionally, Woodhaven offers Journey Groups, an adult bible study made up of several small-sized groups, led by one or two of the members at his/her/their home. Journey groups can meet once a week, twice a month, etc, and each is studying different material. ts once a week or more, as well as Sunday mornings in the prayer room, helping us to maintain prayer as a significant priority in our ministry. Facilities: Our main building consists of two levels. The main level includes the sanctuary, an infant room, nursery, cry/quiet room, balcony, prayer room, meeting rooms, administrative and pastoral offices. The lower level consists of a large fellowship room, several classrooms (including GEMS and a previous preschool classroom), adult study room, kitchen, and storage. The Woodshed is a separate, unattached facility which has a large recreation area used for various activities (sports, rental for concerts & gatherings, etc.), a commercial kitchen, several classrooms (including Cadets), and an upper loft designed specifically for our youth. The Woodshed is an air-conditioned facility. Our Community: Woodhaven is uniquely located in a suburb of Grand Rapids of about 50,000 individuals, with many surrounding communities. Thus, we serve individuals and families from many local communities and schools, including Byron Center, Wyoming, Grandville, etc. We have a unique opportunity to reach many people that other area churches (tied to a particular town) do not. Additionally, we are conveniently located near the more recently built M-6 highway, which allows for significant growth and outreach opportunities, as this area holds potential for residential development. The area around us boasts award-winning schools from small to large, allowing for expansion of our youth programming and attracting new members to Woodhaven. Finally, the area’s economy is transforming from a largely manufacturing base to a medical and research economy with the addition of the Medical Mile in Grand Rapids, and Metro Hospital and other medical offices and facilities locally. Outreach & Mission: By the grace of God, Woodhaven provides mission support locally and abroad. We are pleased to have been involved with a Habitat for Humanity home in the past. We have held fundraiser concerts with other area groups, are involved in community celebration days, provide regular support to area pantries and serving ministries, and offer one or more adult mission trips a year (most recently to Guatemala). We have also offered free concerts and afternoon socials. Approximately 50-55% of residents living within a mile of Woodhaven are un-churched, and being mindful of this, we have a strong emphasis on outreach in our mission and throughout our programming.
