About:
In 1973, Burnt Hickory Baptist Church began in West Cobb County. Rev. Buddy Crowder, along with seven families, began meeting in an old sign shop on the site of the old Due West Hardware Store (now housing the Bronze Monkey shop). First Baptist Church of Marietta provided support in the beginning, but the following year Olive Springs Baptist Church became our sponsoring church. They supported us with love, prayers, people and finances.

Within a short period of time, the first building - a sanctuary with classrooms in the basement - was built. The first service in that building was held on May 16, 1976. Burnt Hickory Baptist Mission constituted as a Southern Baptist Church on October 7, 1979, with 200 charter members. Larry Naylor was pastor at that time. As the church grew so did the demands for more Sunday School space. So with a step of faith, our first educational building was built. It was completed and dedicated on June 5, 1983, debt free.

In 1987, the Lord blessed Burnt Hickory Baptist Church by providing Mike Stephens as pastor. In response to God's continuous blessing and the growth of our county and church, two morning services were begun in April 1988. In August 1988, ground was broken for a new educational building to provide additional room for Sunday School and weekday preschool programs. This new facility was opened in October 1989.
